Raksha Bandhan and Rakhi Muhurat on August 15, 2019

Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on August 15, 2019 the festival of brother's sister's affectionate relationship. On this day, the sister binds a rakhi on her brother's hand.

In Mythology of India, Queen of Karnavati had sent Rakhi to Humayun and they both became brothers and sisters. Humayun had then sent an army to protect his estranged sister. For this reason it has been considered a sacred relationship. There is no self-interest. Only love is the basis.

The festival is celebrated every year on the day of Pournima in Shravanamas.

Raksha Bandhan is celebrated on 15th August, 2019 this year, with the sibling-loving relationship of siblings. Every year, the festival is celebrated on the day of Pournima in the month of Shravana. Since this festival is celebrated in Shravana, it is also known as Shravani.

Raksha means security and the sense of obligation means Bandhan. On the day of Raksha Bandhan, the sister binds Rakhi or Raksha Sutra on her brother's wrist. In return, the brother promises to protect his sister for the rest of his life.

On the day of Raksha Bandhan, the brother also gives his sister some gifts. On this day, the relationship between brother and sister helps to become stronger and stronger. There are many types of rakhi, such as raw yarn, silk yarn or gold or silver bracelets.

This year, the Raksha Bandhan is facing heavy rains.The word Raksha Bandhan is made by combining two words. It means defense and obligation.

Rakhi Muhurat:

From 6 am to 6 pm of August 15th, 2019.

Chant this Mantra While Tieing the knots:

येन बद्धो बलिराजा दानवेन्द्रो महाबल:। तेन त्वामपि बध्नामि रक्षे मा चल मा चल ॥

The meaning of this verse is - I am binding you in the same formula in which Raksha Sutra was built by the great powerful Danveedra King Bali. Be aware of these protections (Rakhi) (never be distracted by your resolve).

Rakhi binding Process:

First of all, make a puja dish. In this plate take sweets, leaves, kumku, rakhi, akshata, turmeric, lamp(small). Then apply tilak on the forehead of the brother. In the meantime light the lamp. Then feed the brother sweets. 

If the brother is older then touch his feet and bless him. If you are elder, then put your hand on his head and bless him. Let the plate of worship be at the place of worship for some time. The lamp should be extinguished automatically. Do not extinguish yourself.
